Tiger Tailgate Recycling
History & Summary
Tiger Tailgate Recycling started in 2005 as a Sustain Mizzou project to increase recycling efforts on football game days at Mizzou. Student and staff volunteers visit tailgating lots to pass out recycling bags to fans and have interactions about environmental awareness. The tailgaters leave the full recycling bags in their spot, and the City of Columbia recycling services picks them up the next day. Weights are then reported to the Sustainability Office to gather data on game day recycling. As of the 2014 season, the Athletics Department has taken responsibility for providing blue recycling bags to the parking lot attendants, leaving TTR to attend to non-lot tailgaters and more time to interact with fans!
