Sustainable Transportation

There are many sustainable transportation options available on MU's campus. From shared-car programs to health-conscious biking, there is an option suited for every taste and lifestlye.

A few of those options:

WeCar

Did you know that a shared vehicle can remove 15 - 20 cars off the road? WeCar sharing offers an economical, convenient and environmentally friendly transportation alternative to owning a car. Two hybrid vehicles and two sedans are available and conveniently located at the MU Student Center and Memorial Student Union. Membership is $35 annually and reservations can be made online. Hourly weekday rates for sedans are $8 per hour and hybrids start at $9 per hour. Customers who are 18 -20 years of age are eligible to use this service but must have their own insurance. Go to the Union’s website for more information and to sign up to become a member. (This program is sponsored by the Missouri Student Unions, MSA/GPC, MU Sustainability Office and MU Parking & Transportation)

Biking Around Campus

Biking is a great way to get some exercise and it can be more convenient than driving your car to campus. However, there are still rules for bicycles, too. Park at one of 5,000 bicycle spaces, not along handrails, fences, buildings, trees or light poles.

Please be aware of drivers, pedestrians, other bicyclists when biking on campus, and follow the rules of the road.

Bus Transportation

Free bus transportation is provided around campus to all members of the school community and students receive 50 percent discounts on local public transit passes. A new bike resource center features bike training and education and free repair services. The group is pursuing a bicycle renting program. A car-sharing program helps relieve congestion and parking demand on campus. The university fleet has two hybrids and 77 vehicles that run on B20 biofuel.
