Water Bottle Reuse

Sustainability Office staff and volunteers drying the next batch of water bottles. Did you know that for every six water bottles people buy, only one is actually recycled? In order to do our part, we want to encourage others to “think refill, not landfill.”

The MU Sustainability Office works hard to encourage the reduction in use of disposable plastic water bottles by distributing reusable water bottles! We accept donations from the campus community who are in need of getting rid of excess reusable water bottles. Our office then partners with MU Campus Dining Services to run the donated bottles through their industrial-sized dishwashers, making sure each bottle is properly sanitized. From there we give the clean, spiffy and reusable water bottles to our students who would like one.

Donate

If your office or building has lost and found water bottles that need a new home be sure to give us a call at 573-882-8207. Or if you’re simply cleaning out your cabinets and have reusable water bottles that you’d like to recycle, let us know. We are happy to take them off of your hands, clean them and give the bottles back to our students who need them.

Note: Please ensure bottles and mugs are empty of their liquid contents before dropping them off at our office.

Ready to Refill

Are you a student who is ready to reduce, reuse and refill but don’t have a reusable water bottle of your own? Stop by our office located at W112 Virginia Avenue (across the street from Pershing Hall) to receive a reusable water bottle free of charge! We’ll also be at various events, such as the Campus Farmers’ Market, handing out free reusable water bottles so be sure to stop by, say hi and receive a free water bottle then, too.
